What should I do in order to be able to do a split?

I've always wanted to be able to do one...a few years ago I could sort of do one when I took gymnastics classes, but now I'm a lot less flexible. What should I do to be able to do a split again? If I were to just go as far down into a split as possible each day for about 10 minutes, would I eventually be able to do a split?What should I do in order to be able to do a split?
styretches should only be held 30 sec. so that you dont pull the muscle/strech to far and injur your self you can repeat a strech but not ten mine more like 3 time unless you spred it out thoughout the dayWhat should I do in order to be able to do a split?
please do not hold your splits for ten min. each day! you will get VERY sore, trust me. just do all of your stretches every day and hold each for at least thirty seconds. the stretches you should do are the straddle(standing up and sitting down), pike, butterfly, roll your back out and do three bridges, and lunges. also do not forget to stretch your arms and wrists! also, i suggest practicing your lunges every morning when you wake up and every night before bed. hold each for thirty seconds. do not push yourself and your muscles too far, and good luck!
