Whats is the best way to treat split ends and get rid of them?

are there any home ways u can try rather than going to the shops to buy products?because that may cause loss of hair.Whats is the best way to treat split ends and get rid of them?
hello, I have had very long hair most of my life and I know quite a few home-made remedies for split ends. hope they work for you as well.

1) take a mug, pour olive oil in it (about 3/4 full) then put an egg in that. mix that up with a fork and add some honey while mixing. put it all over your hair, but a bit more on the ends, wrap you hair up in a plastic bag (like a cap) and leave it on for about an hour, the plastic bag will make your hair very warm, so it will absorb better. then just wash it off with water (the mix will even bubble slightly, like a shampoo), and then apply conditioner and wash it off. do this once a week, your hair will improve drastically.

2) this one also comes from my grandma; what work wonders is almond oil or walnut oil. you can buy it in a specialized shop. apply it to your ends and leave it overnight and wash it off in the morning.啪

3) my hairdresser told me about this one; baby cream. buy any baby cream and apply it on the ends of your hair and out your hair up. you should do this each time before you wash your hair, baby cream is very gentle but very moisturising, it will ';heal'; split ends

4) mayoneise. I know it sounds disgustimg, but it does work. you need to apply it all over your hair and leave it overnight and then wash it off in the morning. it is a bit extreme and quite smelly, but I have tried even that, and it works.

that's about it. I have put them into ';order of efficiency';. hope it helps.Whats is the best way to treat split ends and get rid of them?

Sorry, the only way you can get rid of them is to have your hair cut
yea, you should get rid of them, and should use conditioner more frequently
get your dead ends trimmed
The best and only way, is to get a hair cut. If you don't cut your hair the ends are going to split more and the damage will travel up the hair shaft so if it had been more than 10 weeks since your last hair cut, get it cut immediately.
The only way to get rid of them is to get them cut off and to prevent them use a good conditioner, get a regular trim and don't blow dry or use straightners if you don,t have to......limit the amount of heat you put on your hair.
The only way to get rid of split ends is to cut them. If you don't get them early , the hair may split up the entire hair shaft.
The best thing to do is to cut them off.. products usually just temporarily stick them together. Once youve cut them off try to keep your hair in good condition so you dont get them again.
The only and the best solution is to trim your hair every 6-8 weeks. I went to the hairdressers last november and was told that I had split hairs that split right along the hair shaft to my shoulder ( I had long hair before and hadn't trimmed in two years plus used heat appliances and chemicals on my hair ). I had to have all my hair chopped off and it has now regrown slowly a lot healthier and has better body. So I would say forget about miracle cures and trim your hair on a regular basis.
Keeping your hair moisturized and the ends cut about every 3-6 weeks is the best way. A really good conditioner and some conditioning treatments (under a hair dryer once a week) will keep it moist. But clipping is the best way. Once they split they will continue to split and there is no other way to get rid of them.
Cut them off and use conditioner.............................鈥?:)
Split ends can't be repaired! They have to be cut off, get regular trims and use a good shampoo and conditioner and styling products - these should help prevent your hair from splitting too much.
The only way to solve the problem of split ends is to cut them off. If you don't want a full on haircut go to your hairstylist and ask them to trim it-and get all the ';dead ends'; off. Or you can go for a shorter look which could be fun and exciting. Once you have your new hairdo try and keep it nice. Buy conditioning treatments at your salon and when you apply heat to ur hair ie. straightener, curling iron, blow-dryer- use some sort of heat protection. That should help the problem
there is no ';cure'; for split ends other than cutting your hair. The treatments out there, basically just smooth the hair shaft to make it appear as if the split end is gone. Even if you have long hair, you should get it trimmed every couple of months or so to get rid of the split ends and promote hair health.
The only way to get rid of them is to cut them off.
Forget all the stuff department stores sell. It's cheap and totally misleading. Try going to your local salon and asking them if they sell any of these products...Catwalk Tigi, Paul Mitchell Tea Tree, or Bed Head Tigi. Also try getting a hair cut and brushing your hair every morning and nite.
you should trim yor hair to get rid of the split ends then wash yor hair every other day...and wen u brush yor hair, b careful not to tear thro it, do it gently...hope i could b of help!

oh yeah, trimming yor hair and getting rid of split ends helps yor hair grow faster:P
use lots of conditioner just dont condition the top of your head gud luck
Existing split ends cannot be repaired so just trim them off.

The best way to prevent them is to keep your hair adequately moisturised. Although there are many conditioners which claim to be able to help with this, there are also some (cheaper) home remedies which may be kinder to you and your hair:

1. Jojoba oil. You can buy this VERY cheaply all over the world (ebay is a great place to look!); not sure about prices in north america but in U.K. you can get 100ml for the equivalent of US$9 and a little goes a LONG way. Jojoba oil (actually a ';liquid wax';) closely mimics the natural oil (sebum) produced by skin and hair to moisturise it. After washing your hair, try massaging in a few drops (no more than this) of oil while your hair is still damp. Repeat every day and your hair will be shiny and clean without split ends.

2. Rosemary. Many people have this growing in their garden (but it's easy to buy too) and it's one of the best things for hair. Make a ';tea'; from it by infusing about 2 tablespoons of leaves in 1 pint of just boiled water and allow to cool. Use this as a rinse after you have washed your hair. Hair will be soft and shiny, with no split ends. It's also a great treatment for dandruff.

3. For SERIOUSLY dry hair, rub about 1 tablespoon of olive oil into your hair before going to bed and cover with a plastic showercap or other head covering. Leave on all night then in the morning wash hair THOROUGHLY. Will condition hair and leave it soft and moisturised.

I would recommend tips 1 and 2; tip 3 is only if your hair is REALLY dry.
