Does anyone have any tips on preventing split ends?

I get them really badly!

I use a heat protectant when I straighten but it seems to make no diference.

Any ideas?Does anyone have any tips on preventing split ends?
here are a few tips:

*Don't brush hair when it's wet, because that's when it is at its most vulnerable.

*Buy a natural-bristle brush that won't pull on hair and ultimately break it off, thereby causing a possible split end.

*Wear a hat to minimize sun damage.

*Use a shampoo that lists sunscreen as a major ingredient.

*Condition after shampooing, and use a deep conditioner once a month.

*Try a hair split repair product. It won't actually repair the hair, but it will minimize the stray hair look everyone hates

*Get a trim every six weeksDoes anyone have any tips on preventing split ends?
You should try to give your hair a break from products and heat one day a week, maybe weekends. By products I don't mean shampoo and conditioner, though washing a little less often can help. You should try not to brush your hair too quickly while it is wet. There are some intense treatments you can try. They are intended to be used once a month or so. I would check Sally's for this. Also, a spray treatment/conditioner can be a huge help. My daughter has fine hair that gets a little wispy. I use dove daily moisture therapy, replenishing mist. It is in a white spray bottle. I have used it for a month now and her hair actually looks healthier than it did before. A great plus is that it never gets greasy. If you need something heavier, you could try, strange as it sounds, Silk'n Curl Styling, Creme Gel. I know it is a curling cream, but I use it to straighten my hair and it is so awesome. Be careful not to use too much and only at the ends. Hope that helps!
herbal essences, try breaks over, hydralicious, or hello hydration. also try some of their styling products, they work very well! here is a clip that will show you what products to use and when, when you are straightening your hair! just click straight and watcht the clip! http://herbalessences.com/us/get_the_loo鈥?/a>
