I need to know how to do split leaps for dance and gymnastics. i would say that i need to improve on the whole thing, getting my jump high and getting my feet up. Can someone please give me some ways to improve my split leaps?What are some ways to improve split leaps?

Just always always ALWAYS remember to point your toes. I know people probably mention it all the time but if you just kind of shrug it off, you won't get better. You NEED to focus on SITTING in your leaps. If you just kinda jump, you don't get much height. If you really try to jump then force your butt down to the ground and bring your legs up more, you will improve your skill greatly. Keep your legs straight, don't let them bend even a little! I know there's a lot to focus on, but if you keep all these things in mind while performing or just practicing, I think you really will get better.
you need a good preparation and plie, go as far down as you can, then extend your front leg and sort of kick your back leg behind you. point your toes and stretch all of your leg muscles, think ';out'; instead of ';up';. if you think out instead of up your actual split in the air will be better. once you improve what you look like in the air, you'll be able to jump higher.
Okay for starters you need to be sitting in your splits every day. To really get the perfect split you should probrably overstretch. That is, put your foot on a chair and go down into your splits. Once you have that down. Duriing your prep, if you do a sashae step prep, you want to think about going up with your sashae and then down with your step and then out with your leap. If you do a run prep, think about running in plea and springing off of your leg into that gorgeous split. A key is to make sure your traveling with your leap and just jumping straight up. -extend your back leg, squeeze your muscles, and point your foot in the air
-pull up
-do a good plie or run into it
-work on oversplit stretches
